Jakolof Bay Steamed Mussels
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 5-10 minutes
2-3 pounds of the freshest mussels you can get
Dry white wine
Fresh parsley for garnish if desired
Clean mussels – scrub well with cold water and rinse.
In a very large pot, add about 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup white wine. Get a good steam going, then add the mussels. Put the lid on and shake a few times. Check every minute or so – they cook fast and you don’t want to them tough. They take about 5 minutes to cook.
Pour mussels and broth into a large serving bowl. Garnish with parsley if you want. Melt some butter for dipping if you feel extra indulgent.
Enjoy the heck out of these babies.
Serve with a crust piece of bread and chilled white wine, whatever you used to cook them with is perfect!
